Give us a little background on who you are and what you do for a living…

I’m from Michoacan, MX and have lived here in Oregon for close to 10 years. I live on my own and have 2 children who are with me part of the time. I like exploring new places whether dining, outdoor activities like bike riding or just visiting places I’ve never been.

How long have you been crossfitting?

One year! I started in 2015.

How did you hear about RVCF ?

I heard from a friend who has been crossfitting for some time now.

What training did you do before crossfit ?.

I played soccer, but only for fun.

How has crossfit impacted your life?

Crossfit has been a challenge for me! But it’s been the most important one! It has really taught me how to break past my limits.

What has been your most memorable experience at the gym?

The 2016 open. It’s the first I have participated in and I really enjoyed it! It made me happy to know that I’m able to do more than I’ve believed I could.

What’s your favorite WOD or exercise?

So far my favorite WOD is DT! 5 rounds of deadlifts, hang cleans & push press!

Do you have any advice for new crossfit members ?

At the moment of 3-2-1, go and the WOD begins, don’t feel that you have to do more than you’re capable of or that you should be doing Rx. Go at your pace. This is work towards progress, not destruction!

Let the intensity find you, you’ll need to keep a solid base of strength, mobility and flexibility to get into the more demanding WODs. Start light, listen to your coaches, find the quality of movement and don’t worry about the person next to you lifting twice your weight.

Strive to reach your abilities before trying to reach those of the people you’re with!
